right now

Right now I am :

Listening to the news and the crazy weather.
Thinking about the next few weeks and months.
Wishing I had a fountain coke.
Feeling pretty good at the moment. That should change in the next couple weeks.
Praying for a wonderful house to just scream, "Come live in me.....!"
Keeping my fingers crossed that I nailed my interview and will be starting a 2nd job soon.

It's been a super fast 5 months this year. And the next 2 months are just going to go SO. SLOW. I can just feel it.

two things

Once again... I'm late on blogging. I'm forgetful. I sometimes wonder if I really have just a one-track mind. If it's something I like doing, I can so multitask. But I can be very forgetful at work. Definitely. Anyway :) I have 2 things I wanted to share. The first is my "debut" layout for Creative Soup. My Mojo-Monday Challenge was called If the Shoe Fits. I had to find inspiration in a pair of shoes. I searched and searched until I realized I have the coolest pair of rain boots ever.

I had a lot of fun (somewhat frustrating) time making those strips and getting them on perfect. The letters I used for my title were made using my Cuttlebug machine and corrugated cardstock.

Now for the second thing I want to share with you (mwahahahaha-- deep scary voice). Starting May 1st, we'll be hosting a Re-Opening Gala at Creative Soup. It will be filled with lots of fun, challenges, a wonderfully messy class taught by the amazing K, and did I mention fun? Yes. FUN! Messy, messy FUN!
So don't forget to join us over at Creative Soup. You definitely do not want to miss this!

Just keep hopping...

Welcome to the Creative Soup’s Spring Forward Blog Hop! If you're starting here, I highly recommend you hop on over to Creative Soup's Blog so you don't miss out on any of the fun!!!

To kick off our new enhanced site, we thought it would be fun to have all of our creative team members complete one of the fun Mojo Monday challenges from the first quarter. First, I wanted to show off Jessica Bree's banner she created for the January 31st Mojo Monday, "My Favs," using her favorite things. She created the banner for Mara using these items listed below:
  1. Use the same color scheme as my banner (teal & golden yellow/orange)
  2. Use butterflies on your project
  3. Create a scallop circle shaped layout, card or project
  4. Stitch a circle on your layout or project
  5. Use a patterned transparency
  6. Distress your project with paint
  7. Doodle on your project
Here is her project:
And here is the link to the original post: 1.31 BONUS Mojo Monday -- My Favs

I just love using a list of items like this to create a project. So the other day I was cleaning my scrap space and trying to figure out what kind of project to make. I needed a container of some sort to store my border pieces and excess strips of scrap paper. Then a light bulb went off... PRINGLES CAN! I had one on hand so I cut it down so the border strips would stick out the top a little, covered that bad boy with paper, and embellished.

I used teal and gold/yellow alphas and a teal Martha Stewart border cut in half, as well as butterflies and doodling. I also used this gorgeous woodgrain paper from Recollections and I know Bree loves woodgrain. This is such thrifty and super easy thing to create. Now I can see my borders all in one place.

We're having a BLOG HOP!

Come Join Us as we relaunch Creative Soup at it’s new home!
Starting 8pm EST Friday April 8 we will be hosting a Blog Hop to celebrate the relaunch of The Creative Soup’s new forum!!! http://www.thecreativesoup.com/

Who We Are:

The Creative Soup is a new scrapbook challenge forum that started in January 2011. The idea of The Creative Soup is to create a site where scrapbookers can come to be challenged and inspired all in one place. We have a fun vibrant and growing community of really supportive people who are there to encourage one another in our craft!
Creative Soup has several challenges and events to help people get their mojo going!
1. Mojo Mondays: Weekly challenges that rotate between four different kinds of challenges (AAM, Sketch, Inspiration, and Random). We find that challenges are a great way to jump start a layout and to encourage people to scrap more! There are monthly badges and a drawing for prizes for people who complete three out of four challenges.
2. Quarterly Classes: Every quarter our amazing Design Team will present an in-depth month long FREE class to really get your creative juices going. Each class comes with fantastic tutorials, clear and concise directions, and multiple completed samples to help inspire you.
3. Fun inspirational threads that post each week including: Talk Tuesday (journaling prompts), Web Wednesday (cool DIY projects), Thrifty Thursdays (Getting the most out of your scrap supplies), Font Friday (featured online free font), and Snapshot Sunday (photography challenges/ideas)

So come and register at http://www.thecreativesoup.com/ to join in all the fun!

And be sure to stop back Friday April 8th at 8pm EST to participate in the blog hop and earn a chance to win a cool prize pack!

I cannot wait to share my lovely little project with you all!!!

Out of the blue

Boy has it been awhile... half a month to be exact. I promise to never get that far behind again.

First thing I wanted to share is a frame I made a couple weeks ago for my best friend, Rachel. She's a new consultant for Close to My Heart and asked me to make some samples for her to use during her parties. You can check out her blog here Chic Classy Crafty.

I picked up this wood frame from Michaels Arts and Crafts for a buck. I spray painted the sides white and glue the paper down. Everything on here, except for the Thickers, is Close to My Heart

Now for some exciting news!!! I was asked to be apart of the Creative Team over at Creative Soup. It's a great forum full of chatty, crafty girls, daily inspiration, weekly challenges, and quarterly classes. I encourage everyone to hop on over there and check it out. They have just moved to the new site here...www.thecreativesoup.com. Big changes going on over there so head on over to check them out!

The waiting begins...

So I applied for the Jillibean Soup Design Team. I'm excited that I talked myself into finally doing it and I'm going to be optimistic. Fingers and toes crossed on this one!!!

I also want to share a layout I made about a week ago. ScrapChicks has a great Sketch Class going on through the end of March. March Inspired by...Sketch Class includes 12 sketches created from existing layouts created by the members of ScrapChicks. I used this sketch here...

and created an 8x8 called A Little Bit Country, here....

Journaling reads: So we just might be a lot of country. Scott likes taking the dogs coon hunting, we both like playing in the mud, and we both love to fish. I don't know a thing about coon hunting but I do love turkey hunting. And there's nothing better than feeling the tug in your fishing line.

Don't forget to head over to ScrapChicks to check out the 12 sketches featured in their class this month!

Happy Misting

The last 4 layouts I've done all have mist on them. I'm in love with masking off portions of the design and just going to town on the paper.

This is my favorite layout that I've completed in the last ohh ummmm 4 months? I haven't scrapped a lot of 12x12s lately (I've been doing nothing but minis) so this one is on the top of my list. This is the wonderful Scott, my farm boy. The whole title reads, "This Smile Makes Me So Happy."
I took a big sticker that said "happy" and stuck it down on the paper. Then I took a tiny bottle of Smooch Spritz and sprayed it like crazy. I took the sticker off and that's what it looked like. LOVE! I also traced the outline of the letters with a black Zig marker. Very easy peasy.

Hoping to post that tutorial for y'all tomorrow!

First Post

My first post on my new blog. I'm super excited to share everything scrappy with y'all. I'm hoping this blog will help me find a place in the crafting world and take me to new places. I'll update more later but I wanted to share some rolled fabric flowers I made the other day. I just love them.

Tutorial coming soon!
